Tea at Refugia
We Arrive Together
We arrive together at the tea table to share warm bowls of delicious tea and to remember the importance of slowing down, listening deeply, and holding space for ourselves and for one another. We invite each one of our senses to be touched while we sit in meditative silence together.
In a world that often rushes by, tea ceremony is a pause and a gentle reminder that, sometimes, the simplest things can be the most profound.

This One Moment
In tea we honor ichigo ichie—this one moment that exists only now and will never exist in exactly the same way again.
This bowl. This tea.
This gathering. This day. This you.
Nothing needs to be recreated or held onto.
Tea meets us exactly where we are, each and every time.

Leaves and Water
We brew living teas in ceremony; teas grown from seed and cultivated in biodiverse environments, without chemicals or irrigation. Living tea trees are given space to grow old and wild.
Some of the teas served at Refugia were hand-picked weeks ago. Some have been aged for decades. Tea carries the character of its place, age, season, processing, and the beautiful farmers who have tended it. We select which tea to serve based on the season, the day, and the moment.
The water we use for tea is also of the highest consideration and importance. For this tea room, we collect water from a beautiful cold mountain spring in Ward, Colorado.

Private Tea
A tea ceremony of your own.
Private ceremonies are available for individuals and small groups.
Come alone. Bring a few people you love. Mark a transition. Celebrate something. Grieve together. Or simply make room for an hour of Tea.

A Few Practical Things
What should I wear?
Wear something comfortable. Tea is traditionally enjoyed seated on the floor, so choose clothing that allows you to sit comfortably. If sitting on the floor isn’t comfortable or possible for you, a chair can absolutely be provided, no problem at all.
We ask that our guests refrain from wearing perfumes or scented oils to ceremony to allow for a clear space for all our guests and for the tea. Thank you.
What if I need to cancel?
Because seating is limited, reservations are non-refundable. With at least 24 hours’ notice, you may move your reservation once to another available ceremony. Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice cannot be transferred or refunded, although please still let us know if you can’t make it.
Do I need to bring anything?
No. Simply come.
How do I pay?
Tea ceremony is $33 and paid in advance when you reserve your seat.
We like to say “once ceremony begins, everything is perfect”.
Nothing to prepare.
Nothing to perform.
Just come sit.

With Gratitude
A Bow of Thanks, from Chalise
I honor and give my deepest love and gratitude to all of my teachers on this path. I honor the Leaf, and all of the farmers and families who care for her. I honor the chajin who connected with her for the past thousands of years, meeting her openly in their own lives, and preserving and carrying her and her traditions through, for us.
I bow to my teachers, Wu De and Tian Wu, for their deep devotion, continuous study, their fine example, and their openness to sharing the fullness of their knowledge and their practice, with those who are seeking.
I have so much gratitude for my lifelong friend Brea, who served me my first bowl of tea and who has guided me with utmost grace along my journey.
I give thanks to Global Tea Hut and to the team there, who give tirelessly and joyfully, to the mission of sharing Tea’s love.
I thank all of my tea brothers and sisters who I have learned alongside. As Wu De says “tea lessons are life lessons” and this couldn’t be more true. And I send love and gratitude, to every person I have ever sat and shared tea with. Thank you for sharing your hearts and your time, with me.
