REFUGIA

Flower Studio and Tea Room

West Wash Park · Denver, Colorado

Life feels faster and fuller than ever, doesn’t it?

Refugia offers a place for us to pause.

To breathe. To slow down enough to absorb some beauty into our beings.  When we gift ourselves the opportunity to listen, it is amazing what we can hear.

We step out of the rush of everyday life and back into the sensual experience of being human. Let the steam rising from a bowl of tea caress your face. Watch incense curl through sunlight. Notice what is blooming, fading, or changing with the season.

It feels so good to give ourselves this time, and to do it together.

The outside world is still moving and always there for us. And so is this. The two are not actually separate. We weave them together.

This place is my flower studio, workshop, and tearoom... and I hope a beautiful place of rest and refuge, for all who visit.

You are more than welcome here, come play with flowers and drink some tea with me.

Tea Ceremony at Refugia

Sit. Sip. Arrive.

Tea Ceremony at Refugia is an invitation to arrive exactly as you are, and to receive tea as a practice of tuning in.

We sit together on the floor and share bowls of tea in silence, as humans have been doing together for thousands of years.

We allow for deep listening, but have no attachment to anything arising. Sometimes we laugh, sometimes we cry. Sometimes we receive deep insight, sometimes our to-do list is never far from our mind.

We leave feeling tended-to, more connected to ourselves, to the natural world, and to the quiet connection that exists between all things.

If you’ve never sat for tea before, come curious. There is nothing you need to know, nothing expected of you and nothing to get right. Just come as you are, we would love to share tea with you.

Flowers at Refugia

An expression of this place, this season, this moment.

Refugia arrangements begin with what is happening outside. A bud just beginning to open. A tree branch, bare, in its structural winter beauty. A flower at its fullest expression.

Each arrangement is a custom composition; flowers, branches, texture and seasonal material brought together in a way that connects you to the place and time that you are in.

No two are exactly alike.

Meet Chalise

Where these practices meet.

Plants have been part of Chalise's life and work for nearly three decades. She started working in horticulture at fifteen and has been tending and learning from plants ever since.

Tea and flowers are different practices, but for Chalise they offer the same invitation: to return, again and again, to this beautiful moment, as it is, right now.
